The Classic Bokhara Rug originates from India, but are now widely produced in Pakistan & Afghanistan. Also known as Afghan Rugs, are popular for the thick hand-knotted texture, heavy pile and attractive colors (burgundy, red, dark blue/navy, black or brown with ivory undertones). Their designs consist of repeating octagonal guls (elephant’s foot), conjoined rhombus medallions, or floral patterns. Bokhara Rugs shapes, colors & designs vary and these differences were used to identify the source of the rug.
