Gabbeh rugs have a simple design, mostly a geometric mix of objects resembling animals, people, trees, and are coarsely hand-knotted with handspun wool. The colors are created with all natural plant dyes, and consist of rich bright colors, such as yellow, green, blue, purple and red. Most Gabbeh designs use large fields of solid color, however when combined with another, the color is variegated throughout the rug.
